Satoshi Kondo has directed the ISSEY MIYAKE collection since Spring/Summer 2020. His work continues the house’s investigation of the space between cloth and the body, using movement and the wearer’s experience as starting points for design. The brand describes this approach through its enduring idea of a single piece of cloth. When researching a garment, the season matters: Kondo’s collections form a distinct chapter within a longer history of designers working under the Issey Miyake name.
