That The Board Of Supervisors Proclaims October 8, 2016 To Be Sui Generis Day In The City And County Of San Francisco.

In honour of Sui Generis' 10 year anniversary The City and County of San Francisco

PROCLAMATION
Sui Generis Day
October 8, 2016

WHEREAS, Sui Generis Designer Consignment, a renowned local fashion retailer, began serving our city in October 2006.; and

WHEREAS, Establishing a strong, consistent fashion forward store in the Castro neighborhood – while supporting the community, creating jobs and significantly contributing to the local economy as well as that of the City at large; and

WHEREAS, Because environmental issues and climate change have often been at the forefront of public attention, the role that Sui Generis has played in the continued effective operation of its eco-friendly, secondhand clothing business is critical in reducing its own environmental footprint; and

WHEREAS, Sui Generis has generously partnered with and supported many community-based organizations, such as fund-raising for a network of local charities – such as the Academy of Friends, Project Inform. AIDS Emergency Fund, and the annual Juanita More! Pride Party which funnel donations to many important charitable organizations in the Bay Area; and

WHEREAS, Sui Generis has worked tirelessly to promote shopping locally to improve the community with compassion and dedication, referring clients to other businesses in the neighborhood as well as taking part in Small Business Saturday every November; and

WHEREAS, Miguel Lopez, co-founder of Sui Generis, an active member of the Castro Merchants association, Sui Generis has been a champion for increasing opportunities and improving the quality of life in the Castro neighborhood, District 8 and the City at large; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the City and County of San Francisco honors Sui Generis Consignment on its ten-year anniversary, and, be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors proclaims October 8, 2016 to be Sui Generis Day in the City and County of San Francisco.
