Sui Generis Intelligence Terms of Use & Content License

Effective date: August 18, 2026

1. Scope and Acceptance

These Sui Generis Intelligence Terms of Use & Content License ("Intelligence Terms") govern your access to and use of Sui Generis Intelligence, including designer guides, authentication-reference content, graphics, downloadable files, research summaries, visual references, collection and brand-family materials, social-sharing features, and related editorial resources published by Sui Generis Designer Consignment (collectively, "Sui Generis Intelligence" or the "Guide").

By accessing, downloading, saving, sharing, reproducing, or otherwise using Guide content, you agree to these Intelligence Terms in addition to the Sui Generis Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not download or use Guide content beyond rights you may independently have under applicable law.

2. What Sui Generis Intelligence Is

Sui Generis Intelligence is an editorial, educational, research, resale, and authentication-reference resource. It is designed to help visitors understand designers, brand families, labels, product codes, construction, materials, collections, eras, collaborations, and other identification and authentication context.

The Guide may also link to merchandise currently offered by Sui Generis. The presence of shopping links does not change the editorial and research character of the Guide, and Guide content may discuss items, brands, eras, or categories that are not currently for sale.

3. No Brand Affiliation or Endorsement

Designer names, brand names, trademarks, logos, product names, and other brand identifiers are used for identification, commentary, resale, research, comparison, historical reference, and authentication-reference purposes. Unless Sui Generis expressly states otherwise, Sui Generis Designer Consignment is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, authorized by, or an official representative of the designers, fashion houses, manufacturers, collaborators, archives, museums, photographers, or other rights holders discussed in the Guide.

4. Ownership of Sui Generis Original Content

As between you and Sui Generis, Sui Generis owns or controls the rights it holds in original Sui Generis-authored text, editorial selection and arrangement, original research presentation, original graphics, infographics, diagrams, layouts, annotations, original photography, compilations, and other original material created for the Guide ("Sui Generis Original Content"), subject to any third-party rights incorporated into or referenced by that material.

Facts, ideas, historical events, methods, brand-origin information, and other material that is not protected by copyright are not converted into Sui Generis property merely because they appear in the Guide. Copyright protects original expression and other protectable authorship, not ownership of underlying facts or ideas.

5. Third-Party Content and Rights

The Guide may contain or reference third-party trademarks, logos, product photography, archival photography, campaign imagery, museum or archive materials, screenshots, excerpts, quotations, documents, and other third-party content. Those materials remain subject to the rights of their respective owners and any applicable licenses, permissions, exceptions, limitations, or lawful-use doctrines.

A Sui Generis credit line or page-level copyright notice does not claim ownership of third-party content. Likewise, the limited sharing license in these Intelligence Terms does not grant you a separate license to extract, isolate, republish, sell, or commercially exploit third-party material from the Guide.

6. Limited License to Share Sui Generis-Created Graphics

Subject to these Intelligence Terms, Sui Generis grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to download and share Sui Generis-created Intelligence graphics and infographics made available through an authorized Sui Generis download or share control for personal, non-commercial educational, non-commercial editorial, reference, and social-sharing purposes.

This license is intended to make legitimate sharing easy. You may, for example, save a Guide for personal reference, email an authorized infographic, post it to a personal or non-commercial social account, or include the complete branded graphic in a non-commercial educational presentation, provided you comply with the attribution and integrity rules below.

7. Attribution and Integrity Rules for Shared Graphics

When sharing an authorized Sui Generis-created infographic or downloadable Guide, you must:

keep the Sui Generis logo, suigenerisconsignment.com reference, creator/publisher attribution, and footer credit visible and reasonably legible;
keep any photographer, archive, museum, brand, or other third-party source credit that appears on the graphic intact;
use the canonical Sui Generis Guide URL or Sui Generis short share URL when a link can reasonably accompany the post, email, article, or presentation;
avoid editing the graphic in a way that changes its meaning, makes the research misleading, or implies a different source or endorsement;
limit technical changes to reasonable resizing, compression, file-format conversion, accessibility treatment, or platform-native cropping that does not remove or materially obscure required attribution.

8. Uses Requiring Written Permission

Unless otherwise permitted by applicable law, you must obtain written permission from Sui Generis before using Sui Generis Original Content for:

paid advertising, sponsored content, brand campaigns, commercial marketing, lead generation, or promotional materials for another business;
merchandise, prints, posters, books, paid courses, subscription databases, paywalled reference libraries, commercial authentication products, or other products offered for sale;
commercial republication of a complete infographic, substantial portion of a Guide, or systematic collection of Guide content;
licensing, sublicensing, resale, syndication, or redistribution of Sui Generis Original Content to third parties;
use of Sui Generis Original Content to train, fine-tune, evaluate, benchmark, populate, or materially improve a commercial artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, computer-vision, or authentication dataset or model, except with Sui Generis written authorization or where applicable law independently permits the use.

9. Prohibited Uses

You may not, without authorization or an independent legal right to do so:

remove or obscure Sui Generis branding, attribution, copyright notices, source credits, or rights-management information from a shared Guide graphic;
present Sui Generis research, graphics, or editorial work as your own or falsely identify another source as the creator or publisher;
systematically scrape, crawl, copy, harvest, mirror, or extract substantial portions of the Guide or its structured data for a competing database, service, catalog, authentication system, or content product;
modify Guide content to create materially false, deceptive, defamatory, or misleading authentication or historical claims;
use Guide content or Sui Generis branding to imply that Sui Generis has authenticated, certified, approved, sponsored, or endorsed an item, seller, platform, course, product, or service when it has not;
use the Guide to facilitate counterfeit sales, deceptive listings, misrepresentation, or other unlawful commerce;
circumvent technical controls intended to protect non-public content, rights-restricted assets, or Site security.

10. Quotations, Commentary, Scholarship, and Other Legal Rights

Nothing in these Intelligence Terms is intended to eliminate rights you may have under applicable law, including copyright limitations and exceptions such as fair use where applicable. Whether a particular unlicensed use qualifies as fair use depends on the circumstances and the factors established by law. These Intelligence Terms do not provide legal advice about whether a proposed use is fair use.

When quoting or referring to the Guide in criticism, commentary, scholarship, journalism, or research, accurate attribution to Sui Generis Designer Consignment and a link to the relevant Guide page are appreciated and help readers locate the current source.

11. Authentication and Research Disclaimer

Sui Generis Intelligence is a reference resource, not a brand-issued certificate of authenticity, appraisal, valuation, legal opinion, or guarantee regarding an item that Sui Generis has not specifically examined and agreed to authenticate. Authentication characteristics can vary by era, market, product category, production run, factory, material, repair history, and other circumstances.

Do not rely on a single logo, label, code, stitch, serial format, image, or Guide statement as the sole basis for an authentication conclusion. Where authenticity, value, legality, provenance, or financial consequence is material, obtain item-specific review and appropriate professional advice.

Nothing in this section limits an express authenticity guarantee that Sui Generis provides for merchandise sold by Sui Generis under its store policies.

12. Accuracy, Sources, Dating, and Updates

Sui Generis seeks to use reliable sources and to distinguish current information from historical or uncertain information, but fashion archives, brand websites, resale records, production practices, terminology, dates, and source materials can be incomplete, inconsistent, revised, removed, or newly discovered. The Guide may therefore contain errors, omissions, estimates, disputed interpretations, or information that later changes.

Research dates, confidence statements, source notes, and historical end dates should be understood in context. For example, an "end year" may reflect the last documented official activity found by Sui Generis rather than a formal legal discontinuation unless the Guide expressly states otherwise.

We may update, correct, expand, reorganize, or retire Guide content as research develops. A downloaded or reposted graphic may not reflect the current Guide version; the canonical Sui Generis page should be consulted for the latest published version.

13. Social Sharing and Short Links

Sui Generis may provide share buttons, short URLs, downloadable formats, Open Graph previews, email sharing, device-native sharing, or links to third-party social platforms. These tools are provided for convenience. Third-party platforms control how posts, previews, image crops, metadata, tracking parameters, and links are displayed and may apply their own terms and privacy practices.

When Sui Generis provides a short Guide URL, that URL may redirect to a canonical Guide page and may include analytics or campaign parameters. Sharing a Sui Generis URL does not transfer ownership of Guide content or grant broader rights than these Intelligence Terms provide.

14. Commercial Links and Current Sui Generis Inventory

Guide pages may include "Shop {Designer}" or similar links to current Sui Generis inventory. Those links are commercial features of the Sui Generis website. Product availability, condition, pricing, and purchase terms are governed by the product listing and Sui Generis store policies, not by general Guide descriptions.

15. Permissions and Licensing Requests

For commercial editorial use, publishing, education programs, exhibitions, licensing, syndication, press, brand or institutional use, data access, or other uses beyond this license, please request written permission from Sui Generis before use. Until a dedicated permissions address is published, requests may be sent to shop@suigenerisconsignment.com with "Intelligence Permissions" in the subject line.

Permission from Sui Generis covers only rights Sui Generis is authorized to grant. You are responsible for obtaining any separate permission required from photographers, archives, designers, trademark owners, publishers, museums, or other third-party rights holders.

16. Copyright Complaints and Rights Concerns

If you believe content in Sui Generis Intelligence infringes your copyright or other rights, or if a credit or rights statement is inaccurate, please contact us promptly at shop@suigenerisconsignment.com and identify the material, the relevant Guide URL, your claimed rights, and a way to contact you. We may remove, restrict, replace, or investigate disputed material while we review the concern.

This contact process is not intended to represent that Sui Generis has designated an agent under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Any formal DMCA-agent designation or safe-harbor process, if adopted, will be stated separately.

17. Termination of the Limited License

The limited license granted by these Intelligence Terms automatically ends if you materially violate its conditions. Upon termination, you must stop any continued use that depended solely on the terminated license and, where reasonably possible, remove non-compliant copies under your control. Termination does not limit independent rights you may have under applicable law.

18. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

EXCEPT FOR EXPRESS WRITTEN WARRANTIES PROVIDED BY SUI GENERIS AND RIGHTS THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED, SUI GENERIS INTELLIGENCE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND REFERENCE PURPOSES ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUI GENERIS DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES THAT GUIDE CONTENT WILL BE COMPLETE, ERROR-FREE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE AS THE SOLE BASIS FOR AN AUTHENTICATION, VALUATION, PURCHASE, SALE, INVESTMENT, OR LEGAL DECISION.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUI GENERIS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON GUIDE CONTENT OR FROM A THIRD PARTY'S REPOSTING, ALTERATION, MISATTRIBUTION, OR MISUSE OF GUIDE CONTENT.

19. Governing Law and Venue

These Intelligence Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent federal law or another mandatory law applies. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes arising from these Intelligence Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.

20. Changes to These Intelligence Terms

Sui Generis may revise these Intelligence Terms as the Guide, sharing features, licensing practices, or applicable law evolve. The current version will display its effective or last-updated date. A license already granted for a particular authorized download is subject to the version in effect when the download occurred, except that changes required by law or expressly accepted by the user may apply as permitted by law.
