1. Processing and Shipment Timing
Any processing or shipment time shown on the website is an estimate or shipment commitment, not a guaranteed delivery date unless Sui Generis expressly states otherwise. We will use a commercially reasonable carrier and service level based on destination, item value, size, security, and available services. Carrier transit estimates can change after shipment.
If we cannot ship within a time we expressly promised, or within the period required by applicable law when no shipment time was stated, we will provide any delay notice, cancellation option, or refund required by law.
2. Tracking and Carrier Acceptance
Tracking information is generally provided when a shipment is created or accepted by the carrier. A label-created status is not the same as carrier custody. Carrier responsibility begins when the carrier accepts the package, as reflected by an origin, pickup, acceptance, or comparable tracking scan.
3. Risk of Loss After Tracking Begins
Unless Sui Generis expressly agrees in writing to a destination-delivery obligation, orders are intended to be shipment contracts. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, risk of loss or damage passes to the purchaser when Sui Generis properly tenders the package to the carrier and the carrier accepts custody.
After carrier acceptance and tracking begins, the purchaser is responsible for monitoring tracking, following carrier instructions, arranging secure receipt, and promptly contacting the carrier about delay, loss, theft, misdelivery, or transit damage. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sui Generis is not responsible for carrier acts or omissions, transit delays, missed delivery attempts, theft after delivery, misdelivery, or loss or damage in carrier custody, except to the extent caused by Sui Generis or otherwise non-waivable by law.
4. Carrier Claims
If the carrier permits the recipient to file a claim, the purchaser is responsible for filing and pursuing the claim within the carrier deadline and preserving all packaging, contents, photographs, and documentation. If a carrier requires the shipper of record to initiate the claim, contact Sui Generis promptly and within the carrier deadline. We may open the claim where required, but carrier acceptance and reimbursement are not guaranteed.
5. Optional Third-Party Worry-Free Delivery® Through Seel
Sui Generis's own shipping terms and carrier-risk provisions remain in effect. A customer has separate Seel delivery protection only when Worry-Free Delivery® was offered for the order, the customer affirmatively added and paid for it at checkout, and Seel's confirmation identifies the shipment as covered.
Depending on the coverage terms for the order, Worry-Free Delivery® may cover qualifying loss, theft, physical damage in transit, or significant delivery delay. The customer must file any covered request directly through the Seel Resolution Center at resolve.seel.com using the email address used for the order and the order number or coverage ID. Sui Generis is not authorized to file a Seel claim on the customer's behalf.
Seel independently administers and decides covered requests, determines required documentation and reporting deadlines, and pays or provides any approved resolution under its terms. Sui Generis cannot modify Seel's requirements, decide a Seel claim, or guarantee approval or payment.
Seel coverage does not replace Sui Generis's responsibility for a wrong item, failure to ship, inadequate merchant packaging, material misdescription, or other issue that applicable law requires Sui Generis to address. Contact Sui Generis promptly about those issues. Questions about Seel coverage, claim status, or payment should be directed to Seel through the Resolution Center or support@seel.com.
6. Address Accuracy, Signature, and Secure Delivery
Customers must provide a complete, accurate, secure, and deliverable address. Address changes after order acceptance may be refused for fraud-prevention or carrier-security reasons. We may require signature, adult signature, identity verification, pickup, or another delivery control. Carrier scans, signatures, pickup records, photographs, or comparable records may be used as evidence of delivery.
Customers are responsible for promptly retrieving packages delivered to lockers, access points, mailrooms, doormen, reception desks, neighbors, or other locations or persons authorized by the customer or reasonably designated for the address.
7. Refused, Unclaimed, Undeliverable, or Returned-to-Sender Packages
If a package is refused, unclaimed, not collected, returned because duties or fees were not paid, sent to an inaccurate address supplied by the purchaser, or otherwise returned for a reason not caused by Sui Generis, the sale remains final to the fullest extent permitted by law. The purchaser is responsible for carrier return fees, customs charges, storage, address correction, and reasonable re-shipping costs caused by the failed delivery.
Re-shipment is subject to verification and payment of applicable additional charges. Buyer-caused refusal, abandonment, failure to collect, or failure to pay import charges does not automatically entitle the purchaser to a refund.
8. International Orders, Customs, Duties, and Import Law
International purchasers are responsible for import duties, customs charges, brokerage, taxes, permits, inspections, and destination-country requirements unless checkout expressly states otherwise. Sui Generis does not control customs processing times and does not guarantee that a foreign customs authority will admit an item.
The purchaser is responsible for determining whether merchandise may lawfully be imported. Vintage goods may contain exotic leather, fur, reptile, shell, coral, feathers, mother-of-pearl, wildlife-derived materials, or other components subject to CITES, wildlife, customs, sanctions, export, import, or carrier restrictions. We may decline or cancel a shipment where legal or carrier restrictions apply.
9. Delivery Delays and Force Majeure
Sui Generis is not responsible for carrier delays or delays caused by weather, natural disaster, labor disruption, customs, governmental action, security events, public-health emergencies, network outages, or other events beyond our reasonable control, except for duties that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
10. Contact
