Born in San Francisco and shaped by the city's independent, creative and unmistakably individual sense of style.
Miguel & Gabriel
Miguel and Gabriel have been immersed in fashion, sales, merchandising and vintage since the early 1990s. Their shared enthusiasm for style ultimately became the foundation of Sui Generis.
Their journey began with buying and selling clothing in Mexico before moving to the United States. Miguel built his retail expertise with fashion houses including MaxMara and Ralph Lauren, while Gabriel developed deep knowledge of vintage and second-hand men's designer fashion.
Those two perspectives — luxury retail and exceptional vintage — came together to create a different kind of designer consignment store: selective, personal and unmistakably Sui Generis.

Our History
Sui Generis Vintage Opens
The original Sui Generis vintage store launches on Church Street in San Francisco.
Designer Consignment
The company becomes Sui Generis Designer Consignment and expands into a larger Market Street location.
Women's Store Opens
Sui Generis opens a dedicated women's store in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood.
Women's Collection Expands
The women's business moves to a larger Cow Hollow / Union Street location with an expanded selection.
Menswear Evolves
The men's store is remodeled with an expanded shop floor and dedicated formalwear section.
10 Years in San Francisco
The City of San Francisco issues a proclamation marking Sui Generis' tenth anniversary and its involvement in local neighborhoods.
Sui Generis Online
A new e-commerce experience launches, bringing a selection of the store's designer inventory to shoppers online.
