Virginie Viard

Chanel’s artistic director, 2019–2024

Virginie Viard led Chanel’s fashion collections from 2019 to 2024, following decades of collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld. Her first solo Cruise collection was presented at the Grand Palais in 2019. Her tenure connected the house’s familiar tweed, tailoring and relaxed dressing with her own perspective; the Fall/Winter 2024 collection revisited Gabrielle Chanel’s connections with Deauville. For collectors, Viard’s years form a distinct chapter between Lagerfeld’s final collections and the studio-led period that followed her departure.
